Closing symposium

On Tuesday, June 24th 2008, the closing symposium of the bilateral Project Thaya/Dyje took place in the residence of South Moravian Authority. More then 40 guests from the Czech Republic and Austria were informed about the results of Czech and Austrian parts of the project.



INTERREG IIIA Project Thaya/Dyje
On Friday, January 18th 2008, the Symposium "Focus on the River Thaya" took place in Waidhofen/Thaya. More than 90 guests from Austria an the Czech Republic participated on the event.

 



INTERREG IIIA Project Thaya/Dyje
The cross-border INTERREG III A project Thaya/Dyje is executed in cooperation of Czech and Austrian project partners: on the Austrian side the Environment Agency and the national park Thayatal and on the Czech side the Water Research Institute - Branch Brno are in charge of implementing the transborder project. The main objectives of the project are a harmonised expert assessment of the state of river-engineering and water ecology of the Thaya/Dyje according to the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), the initiation of a Catalogue of Measures and of joint coordination structures for implementation of the River Basin Management Plan. This project constitutes the first step towards a bilateral accord for implementing the WFD.

Assessment of the state of fish ecology of the River Thaya
In September 2006 and April 2007 a field survey was conducted of the fish stocks in the Austrian and Czech border sections of the Thaya. Apart from applying various fishing techniques, sediment particle sizes were analysed and gauge data from the Nove Mlyny reservoir were collected.
